How do we organise ourselves?
Is the main anchor of the three part series Nexus of Imaginaries bringing together art, conversations and an intimate dining experience. With the idea of the multi-species, we invite artists and researchers to open their world, through the act of close looking, sharing current ideas and findings with us. In addition to that each iteration follows a themed exhibition that gives us a framework for the evening. The dinner becomes the moment for gathering and reflection where also the menu is considered alongside the theme - an evening of weaving, speculation and deep listening.
The first Nexus of Imaginaries is based on “Organic, organ-ism, searching for new -isms. Mark making practices for a world that won’t give a shit about you for much longer” as a guiding principle.
Considering the psychology of space these events will take place in spaces of process and unfinished work. Aspects of how we gather, sit, communicate and come together will inform setup and program alike, blurring the boundaries between host and guest, creative and creation, space and actor.
The image shows a typical entrance space in Lamu, Kenya which follows the tradition of the Daka as an interstitial meeting space between public and private. Nexus of Imaginaries looks at spatial as well as creative modes of orgainsing, gathering and exchanging.
