SOMETHING WE AFRICANS GOT is a journal that celebrates the work of artists from Africa and its diaspora, as well as others whose work relates to the continent. Covering a broad spectrum of disciplines—from fashion to literature, music to sculpture, and cinema to theatre, photography, and other art forms—each issue explores a central theme, delves into the artistic and intellectual landscapes of a specific African country, and examines cultural connections between the African continent and a non-African country.

SWAG High Profiles is the magazine counterpart to SOMETHING WE AFRICANS GOT. Like its sister publication, it publishes texts that foster cross-continental dialogue between African countries.

Launched in 2017, SOMETHING WE AFRICANS GOT is a quarterly journal dedicated to contemporary art and critical thinking in Africa.

Anna-Alix Koffi, the founder and editor of these publications, is based between Abidjan and Paris. In 2022, she established SOMETHING Art Space in Abidjan, focusing on video, digital art, and critical discourse.

Language is a signifier through which we define our identity, our sense of self, and our position in the world. It also enables us to engage with ideas, worlds, and concepts beyond our immediate reality.

My work with SWAG was characterized by deep research and collaborations with writers, artists, thinkers, and cultural practitioners across the African continent and its diaspora—bringing stories to life within an engaged and vibrant community.
